Yarn shares on the way!

We are thrilled to announce that yarn shares will be available for sale beginning in September!

We loved the CSA model for getting fiber from our farm to end users directly, and wanted to expand what we could offer; in addition to gorgeous roving we will be offering shares for yarn.

Our wool clip this year looks great, and currently some is off being spun into a heathered grey worsted weight that I will over-dye. The yarn shares will include both solid colors and hand painted, as well as a bit of hand-spun. The details are still to be worked out, and full information will be posted here soon.

I am interested in learning more about your farm, including both the fiber & yarn CSA options. Is there another website that has more details about your farm?

We are finalizing our plans for the yarn CSA portion of our operation and will be posting it soon. Our Esty store should be up and running in the next two weeks, and that will have more information about our products.

Currently most of our sheep are at summer pasture, with the exception of our ram and all his sons, who stay here at the home farm to prevent surprise lambs in December and January. We had a few too many of them last winter.

Our flock is mostly Corriedale, with a few sheep of mixed background who we keep for their beautiful, but different fleeces.

We supplement their pasture with spent mash from a local brew pub, which they seem to relish. Sometimes I think they like the mash with the roasted barley better than others, but maybe I'm projecting.

This fall, when they all come home again, everyone will have a coat to wear to help keep the fleeces cleaner, which will cut down on my work load as well.

More later...the chickens need to be put to bed!
